Job Title: Mechanical Fitter
Primary Objectives
Primarily an experienced mechanical fitter with high attention to detail, working within a small manufacturing team assembling and repairing road repair machinery.A high standard of workmanship is required at all times.Safe working procedures to be followed, this will include maintaining the work area, tools and any other equipment used.Must comply and participate in all health and safety regulations both on and off site.
In addition to the above a major part of your objectives is repair, maintenance, inspection, fault finding and development of existing road repair machinery.Machinery repairs will take place both on and offsite.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Recognised mechanical fitting qualification or demonstrate valid experience and competence in mechanical fitting and assembly
  • Experience with small diesel/petrol engines, compressors and high volume blowers would be a distinct advantage
  • An ability to read and understand fabrication and assembly drawings and work unsupervised once you have an understanding of what is required
  • Mechanical knowledge and understanding with a logical approach to effective fault finding and rectification
  • Experience of manufacturing procedures and processes
  • The ability to disassemble/reassemble mechanical equipment
  • Experience of preventative maintenance
  • UK driving licence required
  • HGV licence would be an advantage
  • Experience of hydraulics and pneumatics would be a distinct advantage
  • Good communication and motivational skills are required and flexibility is a must
Experience Level
  • Experienced in all aspects of the job
  • Time served or qualified in Mechanical Fitting and Assembly
Key Responsibilities
  • Assembling new road repair machinery and integrating the machinery onto HGV
  • General factory maintenance
  • Identify and accurately describe problems and solutions to workshop supervisor
  • Plan, manage and take on responsibility for tasks allocated by workshop supervisor
  • Be prepared to repair and assemble machinery both on and offsite
  • Rectify faults by repairing, replacing and testing
  • Record relevant information on repair work undertaken
  • To participate in the maintenance of an effective, optimal and safe stores management system and organisation
  • Handle and store all materials and equipment in compliance with the requirements set out in datasheets, specifications or dictated by legislation e.g. Health & Safety
  • Work away from home where required.
  • A willingness to take on roles outside of those listed above to help out in other areas of the business

  • Be a highly self-motivated individual, able to work under your own initiative
  • Adhere to the Correct and safe use of power tools and workshop equipment
  • Maintain an awareness of health & safety requirements
  • Be flexible to work overtime and some weekends
