DCPC 2024 Deadline

In the ever-evolving landscape of road transport, staying informed about regulatory changes and certifications is crucial for professional drivers. One such requirement is the Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC), which first came in to force in September 2014. As we approach September 2024, it is estimated that there are 500,000 drivers in the UK that still need to complete their modules before the expiry date.

The introduction of the Driver’s CPC has proved to be controversial and divisive amongst professional drivers and haulage operators alike. However, many believe that it has been beneficial for the following reasons:

  1. Enhancing Road Safety: The primary objective of the Driver CPC is to enhance road safety by ensuring that drivers have the necessary skills and knowledge to navigate various road conditions and challenges.
  2. Professional Development: The CPC is designed to encourage continuous professional development among drivers, fostering a culture of ongoing learning and improvement within the industry.
  3. Standardising Competence: By establishing a uniform set of standards for professional drivers, the CPC aims to create a level playing field, promoting fairness and consistency across the sector.

Whether or not you favour the DCPC you will need it to continue to drive commercially and as we get closer and closer to the September 2024 deadline the demand for courses will increase. Therefore, it is vital that you plan your training in advance.
