Job Description:
We require an experienced mechanical/assembly fitter to work in a small manufacturing team to assemble and maintain bespoke road repair machinery. As part of the role you will be involved in New Machine Builds for both our own fleet and external customers, as well as helping to maintain our fleet of 25 vehicles to ensure they are safe, reliable and fit for purpose. Our fleet operate all over the country, and on occasion you may be asked to travel to support a machine breakdown.
Qualifications and Skills
* Recognised qualification or suitable experience in mechanical fitting/assembly
* An ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
* Good general knowledge of mechanical principles with a logical approach to effective fault finding and rectification
* Experience of using hand tools, basic marking out and drilling, light grinding and dressing.
* Experience of troubleshooting mechanical systems, performing preventative maintenance and working with a continuous improvement mentality.
* Good communication and motivational skills are required and flexibility.
* UK driving license required
* HGV license would be an advantage
* Basic IT skills using Microsoft office required
* Experience with small diesel/petrol engines, compressors and high volume blowers would be a distinct advantage
* Experience of hydraulics and pneumatics would be a distinct advantage
Key Responsibilities
* Primarily assembling new road repair machinery and integrating the machinery onto HGV vehicles
* General factory maintenance/housekeeping
* Work alongside the wider engineering team to solve engineering problems and develop systems
* Identify and accurately describe build issues and discuss solutions with the engineering team
* Plan, manage and take on responsibility for tasks allocated by workshop supervisor
* Liaise with customers and other departments on machine breakdowns and faults
* Be prepared to repair machinery both on and offsite
* Rectify faults by repairing, replacing and testing
* Record relevant information on repair work undertaken
* Train new colleagues as required
* A willingness to take on roles outside of those listed above to support other areas of the business

* Undertake training where necessary
* Adhere to the Correct and safe use of power tools and workshop equipment
* Maintain an awareness of health & safety requirements
* Be aware of the need for risk assessments prior to carrying out any task
* Be flexible to work overtime and some weekends
